Hartford, Conn.. - Ingrid Mattson knows the media drill well.
She made the "We condemn ... (fill in terrorism incident)" speech - as if she says, that's all anyone needs to hear from the president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA).
It was her first at the woman / first convert / first North American-born head of the continent the largest Islamic group.
They talk Retel tion as 20 years ago, she left the Catholicism of her Canadian childhood and her college focus on philosophy and art to its spiritual home in Islam.
"Now is the time for attention, and me back to the problems," says Mattson, a professor at Hartford Seminary, where he led the first American-accredited Muslim chaplaincy program in the MacDonald Center.
Mattson begins in the second half of her two years in the community Labor Day weekend national conference outside Chicago. The annual event draws 40,000 Muslims of every sect, culture, age, race and ethnicity for scores of sessions on faith, family and society and a massive multicultural bazaar.
But, two weeks before the conference, sitting with two women in his small, book-filled office, Mattson is a time to kick off her shoes. She throws her long brown jacket stifling tailored blue blouse, leans back and talks about her vision of American Muslims live and to visit her friend, Heba.
Heba Abbas, 31, a faithful young Muslim in her snug black headscarf, and the inner-city Chicago public school teacher, fitness trainer is a Palestinian-American woman with a thoughtful mosque during the Indian-American man. Both are also triathletes training for an event.
"This is who I mean. They ISNA work. They are the reason why I concentrate on building a strong religious and civic institutional life of Muslims in America. I want to be sure that I am not first and the last young woman leader. Why flash in a pan?" says Mattson, who turns out to be a Friday 44th
Unique American Islam
They talk about caring American Islam, rooted in traditional belief, which dates back before the theological, political and legal disagreement broke the Ummah, the Islamic world, centuries before.
This is the faith they chose at the age of 23, that is, she says, by the beauty of Islam, the ethic of service and the synthesis of life and believe that any action in connection with God.
The key is not to confuse the eternal religion - submission to God, respect for the prophet, prayers, love and purpose of the pilgrimage to Mecca - Islam is the many cultural expressions that shift with the times and society, Mattson says. Her essays and speeches are threaded with references to the Koran, the Hadith (the words of the prophet) and Sunna (the record of his practice).
In. S. Muslim men and women should be empowered to speak the same policy in all areas - medicine, ethics, law, education, justice, marriage and family - through the establishment of common sources of Islam, she says.
Other questions about Mattson and she sounds like goldilocks the headscarf: too liberal for some, too conservative for others, and correct many young activists.
"I am proud of it as my choice for president," said Eboo Patel, 31, founder of Chicago's interfaith Youth Core, which is a provider of social opportunities for Muslims, Christians and Jews. He sees Mattson message to life in ISNA.
"Most of the American Muslim community is very young and overwhelmingly under the 40th All our leadership needs of people can relate to," says Patel. "It is in ethos of service that combines the United States and Islam. This is what religious communities can offer their best inspiration in the world using their own heritage."
But Pamela Taylor, a co-founder of Muslims for Progressive values, to Mattson for women lead congregational prayers.
"I'm afraid that they bought in the same logic that can be, and is used to restrict all women: education, political office, even driving," said Taylor.
Roles for Women

Jamillah Karim, assistant professor of religion at Spelman College in Atlanta, says Mattson is not wise to focus on women as imams.
"Most women are not overly concerned. This is an American religious community still in formation. Women are more interested in issues of family life, traditional, such as marriage and divorce," says Karim.
University of Delaware political scientist MA Muqtedar Khan gives Mattson mixed reviews. He calls her "angel" and "Queen of American Muslims." But, he adds, "They will never rock the boat.
"It is not radical in anything. It is permissible to ISNA strong positions against terrorism, but they will never be in conflict with the government. You will not criticism of U.S. policy. You will see her continue to talk about the diversity within Islam. She will make her mark as an activist with things like her chaplaincy program, but not as a scholar with influential ideas or someone who modernizes thinking within Islam, "says Khan.
It will not rock the boat?
Mattson rolls her brown eyes. Headline-making, provocative individual action holds no attraction for her.
"This is a" great man "theory of history. Look where that has gotten us. I would like to build. I am interested in long-term institutional strength," she says.
Compassion and care

"These days, if you have something nice to say, or Muslims, it is seen as soft on terrorism, as if all Muslims are terrorists.
"Anti-Muslim sentiments are used as a way to score" in politics, she says.
"People see us, they see Heba and her husband, who wears a beard and kufi (CAP), and they have no idea about the life they lead."
From the life that leads Mattson.
When people saw her, from her colorful scarf to her long skirt, walking 3 miles home in the steamy summer nights, they would not know:
• She is the mother of two teenagers.
• It relaxes from mowing the lawn, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis forced her to give out.
• It was her name when she married her husband, an Egyptian engineer, was born in Baghdad, with which they work with during the Afghan refugees in Pakistan in jaren'80.

Jesus in the Glorious Qur'an

The Quran tells us many wonderful things about Jesus. As a result, believers in the Quran love Jesus, honor him and believe in him. In fact, no Muslim can be a Muslim unless he or she believes in Jesus, on whom be peace.
Quran says that Jesus was born of a virgin, as he said when he was just a baby, he healed the blind and the leper by God, and that he is dead, God's leave.
What is the significance of these miracles? First, the virgin birth. God shows his power to create in every way. God created all we know of the man and woman. But how about Adam, whose peace? Or ga God created man or woman. And Eve from only a man, but not women. And finally, the pictures, the God of Jesus from a woman, but not the man.
What about the other miracles? These are to show that Jesus was not on his own account, but that was supported by God. Koran says that the miracles were performed by God, to go. This is comparable to the book of Acts in the Bible, chapter 2, verse 22, where it says that the miracles did God show that he approved of Jesus. Also, keep in mind that Jesus is recorded in the Gospel of John that said, nothing I can do my own authority "(5:30). Wonders, therefore, were done not by his own authority, but by God's power.
What Jesus taught? The Koran tells us that Jesus came to teach the same basic message which was taught by previous prophets of God that we must avoid any false God and worship only one true God. Jesus taught that he is the servant and messenger that one of the true God, the God of Abraham. These Quranic teachings can be compared to the Bible (Mark 10:18, Matthew 26:39, John 14:28, 20:17 and 17:3) where Jesus teaches that the gifts on a one true God. See also Matthew 12:18, Acts 3:13, and 4:27 where we find that his disciples knew him as a servant of God.
The Koran tells us that some of Israel rejected Jesus, and combined to kill him, but Allah (God) rescued Jesus raised him and for themselves. Allah Jesus to descend again, when he confirmed his true teachings and everyone will believe in him as he is and how the Quran teaches about him.
Jesus is the Messiah. He is Allah, and spirit from him. He is respected in this world, and in the hereafter, and he is one of those nearest Allah.
Jesus was a man who told the truth, what he heard from God. This can be compared with the Gospel according to John, where Jesus says to Israel: "You are determined to murder me, a man who told the truth that I heard from God" (John 8:40).
Virgin birth of Jesus
Muslims believe in the virgin birth of Jesus. When the angels announced to Mary (peace upon her) about Allah's promise to have a son, she was surprised, because she was a virgin. "How is this possible?" She thought. It is reminded that it is easy for Allah to do what he wants.
She said: "My lord, how can I find any child when the mortal has touched me?" He said: Well, (will be). Allah creates what He will. Decreeth if the thing says that it only: Be! and it is (Qur'an 3:47).
It is not difficult for Allah to do what he wants. May he be a child with both human parents or only one. It is no wonder the outside of his control. After all, He created Adam (peace upon him) or of a man or a woman. He created the rest of us from the men and women. What is so hard if Allah decides for men from the women themselves? He only commands "Be!" And this is happening.
Some people think that since Jesus, peace upon him, had no human father then God must be his father. The Qur'an rejects this view. The position of Jesus with Allah is like the attitude of Adam with Allah. Just because Adam had no human parent does not mean that we call him the Son of God.
Lo! likeness of Jesus with Allah is as the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then said to him: Be! he said. (Qur'an 3:59).
According to the Qur'an, everyone except Allah, and his servants.
And they say: The beneficial took his son. Indeed you impose a disastrous thing, whereby almost the heavens being torn, and the country is divided and when the mountains fall to ruins, which you attributed to charitable son, when you do not meet the (Majesty of) beneficial to chose a son. There is no one in heaven and on earth, but a charitable as a slave. (Quran 19:88-93)
Miracles of Jesus
According to the Koran, Jesus, on whom peace, performed the following miracles by Allah, and leave:
1. Speakers for the time when he was just a baby.
2. Heal those born blind.
3. Healed lepers.
4. Again death.
5. Breathed life into a bird made of clay.
In the Qur'an Allah quotes Jesus, peace upon him, said:
Lo! I came to you with a sign from your Lord. Lo! I to you from the fashion clay the likeness of a bird, and I breathe and to the bird by Allah's leave. I heal him who was born blind and the leper and raise the dead, by Allah's leave. And I announce to you what you eat and shop in your home. Lo! This is a sign for you if you are believers.
And (I come) confirming what was before me in the Torah, and that some of these legitimate banned you. I came to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear Allah and obey me. Lo! Allah is my Lord and the Lord, worship him. This is a straight path. (Quran 3: 49-51).
Again, in the Qur'an Allah tells us about the situation on the day of resurrection:
On the day when Allah gathers the messengers and says: What was your response (from people)? They say: We have no knowledge. Lo! Verily, Thou art the knower unseen.
When Allah says: "Oh, Jesus, son of Mary! Remember my benefits for you and for your mother, how I strengthened you with the Holy Spirit, so that you spoke of mankind in the cradle of life and how I taught you the book and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel, and how to form such as clay the likeness of a bird by my permission, and was hit on her and it was a bird by my permission, and you heal who was born blind and the leper my permission ... (Qur'an 5:109 -110)
Not all of these miracles are recorded in the canonical gospels, the four gospels in the Christian Bible.
The fact that Jesus, when he was a baby is not written anywhere in the Bible. This is not surprising, because none of the Gospels can claim to recover every event in the life of Jesus. Instead, the Gospel according to John seeks to emphasize that there were too many events to be.
Similarly, the miracle of breathing life into birds of clay is not supported by the Christian Bible. This should not ask themselves. It is clear that the writers of the gospels can write only to the tradition that is available to them. Moreover, they can not write what they know Jesus before they were written on papyrus material that were very limited length.
What is worthy of note here is that the Prophet Mohammed, May peace and blessing of Allah be with him, was honest enough to make this information about Jesus. Religion taught by God through Muhammad would deny the divinity of Jesus. Every human being, and who wanted to deny the divinity of Jesus tried to belittle Jesus. Since Christians looked miracles of Jesus as proof of his divinity, we can expect that any man who tries to deny the divinity of Jesus would not have informed people of miracles not previously known. He would even have tried to deny some of the miracles in the canonical gospels. On the other hand, the prophet Muhammad honestly conveyed the message that his Allah. (May peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.)

RZIM . Zacharias was invited to the summer of 1971 in Vietnam, where he evangelized the American soldiers as POWs and the Viet Cong. After graduating from Ontario Bible College, he began with an outpatient Ministry Christian and missionary alliance in Canada. ( rzim)In 1974 C & MA has him in Cambodia, where he preached only a short time before the fall of the Khmer Rouge. In 1977, after graduating from Trinity, Zechariah was commissioned to preach the world.
In 1983, Zacharias was invited to speak in Amsterdam in the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association annual conference preacher. It was here that he first established the lack of service in the field of Christian Apologetics. After Amsterdam Zechariah, the summer of evangelism in India, where he remained until the need for Apologetics Ministry to people to Christ and to train Christian leaders. In August 1984 Ravi Zacharias International Ministries was founded in Toronto, Canada. Today, the headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, and has offices in Canada, England, India, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.
In 1989, shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Zacharias was invited to speak in Moscow. Although he spoke with students at the Lenin Military Academy, as well as political leaders in the Center for Geopolitical Strategy. This was the first of the many possibilities of loyalty towards the political world. Future events include call Bogota, Colombia, in 1993, where he spoke to the Committee of Justice on the importance of a sound moral basis.
Zachary took a sabbatical in 1990 and part of that year as a visiting scientist at the University of Cambridge. There he heard lectures by men like Stephen Hawking and studied under professors such as John Polkinghorne and Don Cuppitt. He wrote his first book, A Shattered VISAGE: The Real Face of Atheism.
In 1993, Zacharias was invited to speak at its first Veritas Forum at Harvard University, and later that year was one of the speakers at the main Urbana. Zechariah remains frequent guest on these forums, and giving lectures and answering student questions and answer sessions at academic institutions like the University of Georgia, of the University of Michigan, and Penn State.
Zechariah attracted media attention when in 2004 the Church of Jesus Christ, latter-Day Saints (LDS Church) opened its signature pulpit in Salt Lake Tabernacle to external evangelist for the first time in more than a century (the last to Dwight L. Moody 1871). Zechariah was a speech on the theme "Who is the truth? Brane Jesus Christ as the Way, the Truth and the Life" for some 7,000 scientists and laypeople from both LDS and Protestant camps in the first step towards an open dialogue between the camps.
Some Evangelical Zacharias criticized decision not to use this opportunity for direct contact with the "deep and fundamental" differences between the historic Christian faith, and that the LDS church. He responded by saying that Christians should not immediately condemn Mormonism's theological differences, but "to build a step at a time in the statement of our faith with clarity and conviction." He said this is just as effective if errors is one of their faith. The word commitment was almost sabotaged by claims of event organizer Greg Johnson, chairman of the Standing Together Zechariah that had nothing to do with editing the book Kingdom of worship and had only lent his name to the latest release. Johnson later apologized for his comments.
Zachary is also a frequent lecturer in the main proceedings evangelical community events such as the Future of Truth Conference in 2004, National Religious Broadcasting 'Convention and Exhibition in 2005, National Conference on Christian Apologetics, 2006, and Mission Fest Toronto 2007. On successive nights in October 2007, he solved the first students and teachers from Virginia Tech, and then the community Blacksburg, Virginia, on the theme of evil and suffering in the aftermath of the Virginia Tech massacre. In addition, Zechariah is represented in the evangelical community in events such as the National Day of Prayer in Washington, DC, Annual Prayer Breakfast at the United Nations and the African Union Prayer Breakfast in Maputo, Mozambique, and was appointed honorary President in 2008 National Day of Prayer Task Force.

It was here that he first established the lack of service in the field of Christian Apologetics. In 1993, Zacharias was invited to speak at its first Veritas Forum at Harvard University, and later that year was one of the speakers at the main Urbana. Zechariah remains frequent guest on these forums, and giving lectures and answering student questions and answer sessions at academic institutions like the University of Georgia, of the University of Michigan, and Penn State.
Zechariah attracted media attention when in 2004 the Church of Jesus Christ, latter-Day Saints (LDS Church) opened its signature pulpit in Salt Lake Tabernacle to external evangelist for the first time in more than a century (the last to Dwight L. Moody 1871). Zechariah was a speech on the theme "Who is the truth? Brane Jesus Christ as the Way, the Truth and the Life" for some 7,000 scientists and laypeople from both LDS and Protestant camps in the first step towards an open dialogue between the camps.
Some Evangelical Zacharias criticized decision not to use this opportunity for direct contact with the "deep and fundamental" differences between the historic Christian faith, and that the LDS church. He responded by saying that Christians should not immediately condemn Mormonism's theological differences, but "to build a step at a time in the statement of our faith with clarity and conviction." He said this is just as effective if errors is one of their faith. The word commitment was almost sabotaged by claims of event organizer Greg Johnson, chairman of the Standing Together Zechariah that had nothing to do with editing the book Kingdom of worship and had only lent his name to the latest release. On successive nights in October 2007, he solved the first students and teachers from Virginia Tech, and then the community Blacksburg, Virginia, on the theme of evil and suffering in the aftermath of the Virginia Tech massacre. In addition, Zechariah is represented in the evangelical community in events such as the National Day of Prayer in Washington, DC, Annual Prayer Breakfast at the United Nations and the African Union Prayer Breakfast in Maputo, Mozambique, and was appointed honorary President in 2008 National Day of Prayer Task Force.
